this past sunday i took a walk along queen west with some friends, hit up a local brunch spot, and shopped the vintage stores. the guys scored jackpot as each one found their perfect fitting blazer, all $15 each. can't go wrong at that price. don't they look suave in their new(ish) jackets?

is anyone else going away this weekend? i'm planning on heading up to collingwood for a weekend in the sun, complete with pool and all. as per usual, if i could grab a dream outfit out of my non-existant closet (damn you lofts, with your open-concept living) this would be the one. denim shorts, an easy-breazy floral top, and some comfy flats. throw on some "turquoise & caucos" nail polish and you can find me by the pool.

miss murder
i LOVE these bracelets (paired with black nails). i have seriously given myself a scolding for discarding all the old "punk rock" bracelets that covered my wrists in high school. i found similar styles of bracelets below at forever 21, and really, how can you go wrong with the price?

i'm still trying to figure out what my signature style is, and the first conclusion i've come to is that i'm always trying to throw in a little rock and roll, whether it be with my constant black nails and heavy liner or with a studded bracelet. it's always there. i hope as i keep developing these outfits i'll begin to nail down what else makes my outfits "me".
i'm supposed to be catching a free flick at the harbourfront this evening and i need an outfit. so... what to wear on a date, it's always a tough question. i like to mix more feminine pieces with a little, what else, rock and roll. take this polka dot dress and throw on a black leather jacket. add some pearls, with a dark smoky eye and voila, instant girl with an edge (hah).

Linea Pelle leather wrap bracelet, $95 | Aeropostale silver ring, $11 | Butter London 3 Free Lacquer Nail Polish, $14

yeah, i made it: sailor knot bracelet
i was incredibly bored and hot last night after i got home from work. i wanted to do more then just sit on my butt and vegetate in front of the fan. i moved to the computer to find a craft that could be completed while sitting on my butt, vegetating in front of the fan. i found this fantastic etsy shop that sells nautical inspired bracelets, complete with DIY instructions for cheap people like me. it was pretty easy and has room for mistakes, perfect for all those people out there who make many.
all you need is 9 feet of twine, and your favourite 14oz can of food that's been hiding away in your cupboard (my weapon of choice was creamy corn). then visit this SITE to see the step by step instructions and voila, your free, super cheap, sailor knot bracelet.

shoe lust: aldo ($30)
i just found these cranstona flats on aldo and i NEED them (i've just decided). they're only $30, which isn't too painful. i've had bad luck with flats from aldo though in the past. the shoes never seem to stay together, my soles are always coming apart. has anyone else had this problem? i am totally digging the crochet look right now, so i will probably just buy them anyways.

value village addict: gap jean jacket ($9)
i found this gap jean jacket a couple weeks ago at value village and the second the warm weather hit - you can't catch me in anything else. this pic is from last weekend when callum and i ventured down to the beaches for the first time. it was smokin' hot outside, but he was able to capture this photo before that jacket was off and outta sight.

value village addict: vintage suitcase + shoes ($17)
i am an addict, a value village addict. it has been one day since my last relapse. for those of you who know, you know i visit " v v " (as we addicts call it) about 3 or 4 times a week - it doesn't help that i live two minutes away from one! i'm going to start posting all of my finds for everyone so you can see what you're missing out on if you don't shop the village. yesterday i found a vintage jetliner luggage bag for $12 and a pair of cute shoes for only $5. i also found a pepto bismol pink ukulele for $5, but it's previous owner wrote personal messages all over it, so it will have to be repainted. i'll post pics once it's a little more presentable.

i'm not usually one to partake in anything other than the regular two coats of black nail polish,
but when i saw this (and how easy it was) i knew what i would be doing this weekend.
but when i saw this (and how easy it was) i knew what i would be doing this weekend.
** instructions **
{one} put on nail polish and let dry (i'll being doing a grey base coat).
{two} dip fingernail in alcohol, basically any will do, vodka is suggested.
{three} press a strip of newspaper on to your alcohol soaked nail.
{four} pull off slowly and be really impressed with yourself.
{five} paint top coat if desired.
easy as pie. i'll post some pics of how they turn out.
