i know back when we were shooting this photo, i was wishing and pleading for the sunniest of summer days. but now that i've just gone outside and experienced that sweaty sauna that everyone is calling summer, i'll gladly go back to the coldest photo shoot ever. i know everyone wishes for the opposite whichever season they're in, but i honestly don't complain much in the winter. it's nothing a big comfy sweater, mug of hot chocolate, and ra oaring fire can't solve.

summer lovin'
it's the first day of summer, hurrah! is anyone celebrating the summer solstice this weekend? i hear those parties can get quite intense (picture bonfires, naked bodies flailing around everywhere, an abundance of recreational "activities"). sounds like my kind of party (kidding!).
it's supposed to be a super steamy summer, so i'm hoping to fly the coup and get out of the city for a couple weekends and head up north when you can actually swim in the water. does anyone have anything fun planned for the summer? i've made a small list of goals i would like to accomplish before the leaves begin to fall, including actually sewing something with the sewing machine i bought, complete at least one painting a month, finish the demos for our new album (we're professionally recording the first one, cadaver bells and gypsy spells, tonight at oak recording studio) and I'm sure there are other things, but I just can't think of them right now. what are your goals for the summer, do you even make goals or am i slightly ocd...

yeah, i made it: sailor knot bracelet
i was incredibly bored and hot last night after i got home from work. i wanted to do more then just sit on my butt and vegetate in front of the fan. i moved to the computer to find a craft that could be completed while sitting on my butt, vegetating in front of the fan. i found this fantastic etsy shop that sells nautical inspired bracelets, complete with DIY instructions for cheap people like me. it was pretty easy and has room for mistakes, perfect for all those people out there who make many.
all you need is 9 feet of twine, and your favourite 14oz can of food that's been hiding away in your cupboard (my weapon of choice was creamy corn). then visit this SITE to see the step by step instructions and voila, your free, super cheap, sailor knot bracelet.

the dutch never burn
i hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. i spent my sunday afternoon lounging at the beach with good friends and good drinks concealed in my little red cup. one thing i underestimated was the toronto sun on a warm day. i'm burnt as toast. always lather up the sunscreen even if you have some ridiculous notion that you will never burn (like me). after one too many drinks in the sun and a few too many cigarettes i retired super early, now i'm all recharged and ready to go for the week.

value village addict: gap jean jacket ($9)
i found this gap jean jacket a couple weeks ago at value village and the second the warm weather hit - you can't catch me in anything else. this pic is from last weekend when callum and i ventured down to the beaches for the first time. it was smokin' hot outside, but he was able to capture this photo before that jacket was off and outta sight.

don't wanna lose ya.
spring is finally here. it's officially the first day i left for work without a jacket -- and it feels great.
i just want to camp out on a patio all afternoon and surrender to the rays.

a summer song, sung all along
summer feels within my grasp today. this saturday is supposed to be a beautiful, breezy 16 degrees and i am planning to soak up every minute of it, outdoors and surrounded by the wilderness.
