trinkets pale the moon
i can't admit that i have know about the mars volta for too long, but since a very important person introduced me to the pure genius that is the mars volta, i've been hooked. here is one of their new songs, trinkets pale the moon, performed live in helsinki. they are currently on a small tour (no shows in toronto unfortunately!) and just started rocking this new tune. enjoy!

happy birthday meghan morrison (only a week late!)

last friday callum and i paid a visit to aspetta cafe, where our friend meghan morrison was celebrating her birthday. she rented out the joint for the night and shared the stage with everyone in attendance. guests were encouraged (sometimes forced hah) to sign up for the open mic. we played cadaver bells & gypsy spells as well as the hangman's elm. aspetta is a small cafe (with a wicked patio) located in trendy kensington market. they have a stage that opens to the patio, nothing better then being able to enjoy live music while sipping a cider and chain smoking (kidding!...sort of... ew). callum and i were recently featured on meghan's weekly webcast, which you can find here.

i'm not in love
a couple videos from a crystal castles concert i went to last weekend at the sound academy.
it was disgustingly hot and over crowded, but they played longer than their usual 10 minutes,
so I can't complain. they even brought on a faux robert smith to sing not in love.

homegrown music
a little late but still good, here are two of my favourite bands from
this years canadian music week - raised by swans + elephant stone.
i've never seen someone rock the sitar like elephant stone's own Rishi Dhir.
you can find both bands on myspace and on itunes.

it's only the end of march and I'm already dreaming about where to go on vacation
this september. last year my boyfriend and i took a trip to paris and honestly, i fell in love.
so here's to planning another european vacation and to soaking up everything i love
most about the city, especially checking out the local music scene as well as consuming copious
amounts of french baguettes - preferably at the same time!

another night amongst the stars
the show on thursday at the port bar was a huge success. thanks to all that came out to support, especially christian st-pierre on the tambourine, and doug newman + andrew soloman for capturing the magic all night. there were a lot of new faces, so thanks to everyone for spreading the word. i will have new show dates to post soon, so keep your eyes peeled. love alice.
