vintage shopping in leslieville

this past saturday i went shopping along the leslieville strip. the place is swarming with antique shops. i came across a fantastic record store called discovery used and collector records, and all the records were 50% off (my kind of deal). i didn't end up buying anything, but the posters they had on the wall were to die for (but unfortunately not 50% off). i then visited my FAVOURITE vintage store gadabout, i seem to make my way down there atleast once a week. just look at all the shoes! (all around $60-$80 dollars) they have a wide assortment of pretty much anything you're looking for. old straight razors, harmonicas, leather jackets, flapper hats, letterpress blocks, jewelery, SHOES, anything! it's all very reasonably priced as well.

shoe lust: aldo ($30)

i just found these cranstona flats on aldo and i NEED them (i've just decided). they're only $30, which isn't too painful. i've had bad luck with flats from aldo though in the past. the shoes never seem to stay together, my soles are always coming apart. has anyone else had this problem? i am totally digging the crochet look right now, so i will probably just buy them anyways.

value village addict: vintage suitcase + shoes ($17)

i am an addict, a value village addict. it has been one day since my last relapse. for those of you who know, you know i visit " v v " (as we addicts call it) about 3 or 4 times a week - it doesn't help that i live two minutes away from one! i'm going to start posting all of my finds for everyone so you can see what you're missing out on if you don't shop the village. yesterday i found a vintage jetliner luggage bag for $12 and a pair of cute shoes for only $5. i also found a pepto bismol pink ukulele for $5, but it's previous owner wrote personal messages all over it, so it will have to be repainted. i'll post pics once it's a little more presentable.
